Payroll services

Payroll that's right, on time, every time

Paying people should be the easy part of running a business. In practice it means payslips, HMRC submissions on every payday, pension duties and a steady stream of starters, leavers and sick notes.

We run it all for you, whether you pay a team of twenty or just yourself as a director. You approve the figures and we take care of the rest.

Why outsource payroll

Small mistakes in payroll become big problems

Employers have to report pay to HMRC in real time, on or before each payday. Staff need assessing for workplace pensions, and everyone has to be re-enrolled every three years. Miss a step and penalties or unhappy employees tend to follow.

Because we also look after your accounts, payroll isn't handled in isolation. Salaries flow straight into your bookkeeping, director pay is planned alongside your tax, and you have one team to ask when something changes.

Your team paid correctly. HMRC kept happy. No late nights.

  • Accurate every time

Tax, National Insurance, pensions and deductions checked before anyone is paid.

  • Always compliant

RTI deadlines and pension duties tracked for you, so penalties don't creep in.

  • Time back

No more wrestling with payroll software or chasing HMRC codes at month end.

  • Joined-up advice

Payroll linked to your accounts and tax, so decisions about pay make sense overall.

FAQs

Got questions? We've got answers.

Do I need to run payroll if I'm the only director?

Usually, yes. Most director-only companies pay the director a salary through payroll, often alongside dividends, because it can be the most tax-efficient way to take an income. That means registering as an employer and reporting to HMRC on or before each payday. We set this up for you, keep it running and make sure your salary works with the rest of your tax position.

What is RTI?

RTI stands for Real Time Information. It's how employers report pay to HMRC. Every time you pay staff, a Full Payment Submission has to reach HMRC on or before payday, showing what each person earned and what was deducted. An Employer Payment Summary is used to report certain adjustments, or to tell HMRC when no one was paid. We send both for you as part of every pay run.

Can you handle workplace pension auto-enrolment?

Yes. Employers must assess their staff for automatic enrolment into a workplace pension, and re-enrol eligible staff every three years. We assess employees each pay run, calculate contributions, send the figures to your pension provider and handle re-enrolment and your declaration of compliance when they're due. If you haven't chosen a pension provider yet, we can help you get set up.

Can you take over payroll from our current provider?

Yes. We'll need your PAYE reference, employee details and year-to-date figures, which we can usually get from your current provider or payroll software. Switching at the start of a tax year is tidiest, but we can take over part-way through without any problem. We make sure the records carry over correctly so employees' tax and pension figures stay accurate.

How often can you run payroll?

Whatever suits your business. We run weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls, and some businesses have more than one pay frequency for different groups of staff. For a director-only company, a monthly or even annual pay pattern can work well. We'll talk it through with you at the start and set it up to match how you want to pay people.
